GEO Flooring Introduces Box Study

When Jhane Barnes was first inspired to create a new carpet collection for Tandus, she wanted to produce a design that had all the elements of geometric order, yet allowed all the freedom for a random aesthetic - Box Study is a successful hybrid of the two.  Box Study is available in modular carpet as well as Powerbond®.

Recognising that random patterning of the past may have often appeared a little too heavy handed for the floor plane, this new design concept by Jhane Barnes has successfully negated the limitations of random patterning, with end results that present an innovative design which places some order on the chaotic or, as Jhane Barnes calls it; ‘disciplined randomness’, which successfully strikes a balance between random chaos, and the order of geometry. This clever design principle can be seen in Jhane Barnes’ Patented ‘checkerboard motif’, which makes combining the two opposing styles possible.  Whilst a traditional Checkerboard has eight squares on each side, Box Study has twenty-nine squares on each side. The random aspects are introduced by varying the orientation of the squares present within the checkerboard. This design relies on mathematics, but is created in a manner that enables the design to accommodate for the movement of a random aesthetic.

‘Box Study’s Powerbond®, is a hybrid resilient closed cell cushioned, sheet flooring with a peel and stick installation method, allowing for efficient, low VOC installations. Once installed, Powerbond® provides unequalled durability, exceptional acoustic control, energy savings and thermal insulation, coupled with award winning sustainability’.

Box Study is available in Powerbond® and ER3® closed-loop recycled modular tile.
